The Listies Crown the Best Movies of 2024

Last Listies we talked about the Super Bowl, but now it’s time for OUR Super Bowl. It’s Oscars Weekend and that can only mean one thing…

It’s time for the 9th Annual Bestie Awards! 🎉

Since the Bestie Awards debuted in 2017 (the year Moonlight won Best Picture), a total of 283 films have been nominated in some capacity, and this year we add a record 48 movies to that prestigious list of nominees! From indie darlings and blockbuster epics to challenging documentaries and animated delights, this year’s lineup of Bestie nominees is one of the best we’ve ever had.

But unlike the Oscars, we only nominate five films in Best Picture. We’re a little choosy like that 😏 This year’s nominees include—

— A steamy love triangle hiding inside a sports thriller
— A moving true story starring non-professional actors
— An audacious experiment in first-person POV
— A stripper’s failed love story, starring a new ingénue
— A sci-fi sequel to rival The Empire Strikes Back
